About Schullin
- UPDATED:
A legacy of Viennese jewellery artistry
Schullin Wien is a renowned jewellery house based at Kohlmarkt in Vienna’s first district. For three generations, the name Schullin has stood for exceptional jewellery artistry, visionary design and uncompromising craftsmanship, shaped by a distinctive understanding of aesthetics, gemstones and quality.
The story of the house begins in 1888, when Johann Schullin became a watchmaker and laid the foundation for a family tradition that continues to this day. In 1910, he opened his first watch workshop, making the family’s dedication to craftsmanship tangible. In the 1930s, his son Hans Schullin established his own jewellery business in Graz, quickly earning a reputation for quality and trust.

A defining milestone followed in 1954 with the beginning of Schullin’s partnership with Rolex. This collaboration, now the oldest ongoing Rolex partnership in Austria, established a strong foundation of precision, excellence and continuity that continues to shape the identity of the house.

In 1975, the third generation marked a new chapter when Herbert Schullin opened the first Vienna boutique at Graben 26, designed by visionary architect Hans Hollein. Conceived as both jewellery house and architectural statement, the boutique reflected the belief that jewellery and spatial design share a common language. In 1982, a second boutique opened at Kohlmarkt 7, also designed by Hollein and today considered a landmark of Viennese modern architecture.

Throughout the following decades, Schullin Wien developed into one of Europe’s leading jewellery destinations. International recognition came in 1984 with the De Beers Diamond International Award in Paris for outstanding jewellery design. In 1991, the house received the Austrian State Prize for jewellery design, followed by international exhibitions and presentations, including at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Schullin’s creative vision has always been closely tied to exceptional gemstones. The acquisition of the first Paraíba tourmaline in 1996 marked the beginning of a new chapter and became a defining signature of the brand. Its rare, luminous colour reflects the house’s passion for discovering extraordinary stones and transforming them into distinctive jewellery pieces.
Remaining true to its heritage while embracing innovation, Schullin continues to evolve. The launch of My Diamond Ring introduced a contemporary approach to personalised diamond jewellery, bringing bespoke design into a modern, digital context. Recent years have seen further international recognition of the house’s artistic identity, alongside the expansion into the entire Looshaus at Kohlmarkt, an architectural icon of Viennese elegance that now forms part of the Schullin world.
Today, Schullin Wien unites tradition and modernity, craftsmanship and innovation, architecture and art. In its in-house atelier, jewellery is created not merely as adornment, but as an expression of personality, time and artistic vision.
