Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and American actress Meghan Markle got engaged in November 2017. The media hype around the couple and their wedding, which was held in May 2018, was huge. The famous engagement ring of Princess Diana, mother to Harry and his older brother William, had already been gifted to William's now-wife Kate Middleton. Consequently, when the couple officially announced their engagement on November 27th, the spotlights were pointed on Meghan's ring finger.

Her ring is a three-stone, also called "trilogy" or "trinity" ring.

Unlike usual trinity rings, Meghan Markle´s trinity engagement ring features a cushion-cut diamond, flanked by two smaller round diamonds.

• About the cushion-cut center stone: Harry bought the diamond in Botswana, a country he is very fond of and has often visited
• Both round side diamonds belonged to one of Harry´s late mother´s personal collection, apparently from a brooch.

Meghan Markle´s engagement ring is thought to have approximately 3.8 carats in total, with a 3-carat cushion-cut center stone.

Her ring has an estimated cost of € 305.000 (roughly 350.000 dollars or 260.000 pounds). It was manufactured by Cleave and Company, the official Court´s jeweler.

The trilogy setting was originally a simple yellow gold band.

Following the birth of their son Archie in May 2019, Meghan revealed a modified band: the engagement ring suddenly featured a thin micro-pavé band, as opposed to the original solid yellow gold one.

Some believe it is a personal preference as Megan is known to favor dainty jewelry. It may have also stemmed from a desire to mark the birth of their son.

Note: While many have criticized Meghan´s choice of changing her original engagement ring, it is not uncommon for women to be slightly disappointed by their engagement ring.
